North Africa Risk Consulting, Inc. is a political risk firm specializing in North Africa & the Sahara. NARCO has extensive experience helping firms navigate Maghreb markets. Recent events in North Africa and the Sahara have heightened the need to understand political circumstances and their trajectories, not only in Tunisia and Libya, but throughout the region.

NARCO was founded by Dr. Geoff D. Porter. Prior to establishing NARCO, Dr. Porter served as Director of Middle East and Africa at Eurasia Group, the political risk consultancy. Previously, Dr. Porter was a professor of Middle East and North Africa history at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Dr. Porter completed his PhD in Middle East and Islamic Studies at NYU and holds a Masters in Arabic and a BA in Islamic Studies from the same institution.

He has published widely in the media and in specialized industry publications. His Arabic translations have appeared in The New York Times.

Dr. Porter is fluent in Arabic (including North African dialect) and French. He has lived and worked throughout the Maghreb over the last two decades.
